Groupon Issues

Hi folks,
First time poster, but long time fan of the site and general snooper of the forums.
I signed up to Groupon ages ago and I was finally tempted by one of their offers in January. Not being one for small print I made what I thought was my purchase via the groupon site (8 memory foam pillows for 50quid). Never using the site before I clearly didn't get the concept of the whole voucher system and only realised that I had to claim the purchase with the voucher after the voucher itself had actually expired.
I contacted their customer services today and was referred to the small print in the online contract that stated that the voucher is worthless past its expiry date. The Scouse girl in customer services was nice enough realising that I was a first time user of the system and she clearly sounded uncomfortable telling me the bad news. She did clarify that it was Groupon that was still in possession of the money and that the retailer would only be passed the money on production of their voucher.
Have I any recourse re this? I know they were looking at a legal 'class action' in America over similar cases, but I haven't been readily able to find any course of action available to me in the UK.
I can't help think this is both unfair in legal contractual terms let alone ethical. I vaguely remember something about contract terms law from my student days around 20 years ago, but I'm not sure how this could be applied in this instance without getting all litigious.
Thanks in advance,

I had a similar ish thing recently when the retailer took my voucher and gave me the value i'd paid for it - and then just claimed their money back from groupon (when they presented the voucher).
i'm sure they lost a little with groupons cut but good customer service/not leaving a bad taste clearly mattered
you could suggest the same thing to the retailer but when it's your own fault the voucher expired you really are relying on others good will so i wouldn't go to far down the 'threatening legal' route if i were youDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
I had a customer service 'how do your rate Groupon' email just now. I normally never fill them in. If they don't respond to a few choice words that I had to say then I suspect that nobody has read the response.0
