Hugs to logie hope you're feeling perkier after your blood transfusion.
I remember someone posting about not realising how lucky we are until something goes wrong (sorry I had a search, but couldn't find the post, I think it was one of the night shift).
dh and I have been watching the Red Nose Rafting Challenge, down the Zambesi. It really puts things into perspective, when you see a mother taking her 9 month old son to visit his sister's grave, when she died at age two from diarrhea, from drinking contaminated water - and knowing the same thing could happen to your other kids. Kids walking four hours a day to get to and from school, being the lucky ones as some families can't afford the uniform and the £5/month fees."We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough

Totally agree. I thought something similar when I watched a programme the other day about kids from poor families in america, where they were having to live in the motels.
Makes me glad for the 2 freezers and cupboards that are full. Even though I end up moaning about having to do regular shopping occasionly, at least I can.0 -
Evening guys. Mam been ok today, no more sickness, etc though she is still off her food, only eating third of her lunch with no pudding, and then half of her thick soup tonight, but no sandwiches. Had a right job getting her tablet down at teatime, and she kept opening her mouth to let us see it was still there, despite lots of sips of water, juice and tea. In the end, the nurse took the table out of her mouth, dried it, and gave it to Mam again saying 'here's another one', and that went straight down with a sip of tea :rotfl:She was very tired as we left, so she would be going to sleep soon after. My sister was talking to a relative of another lady in same 'ward' but other corridor, who said her mother has been the same for the last 2 or 3 weeks, totally off her food and vomiting at least three times a week, so we will be asking nurse about this tomorrow
I gave my brother a lift back to his lunchtime, and then sorted out his connection on laptop and got him online ok
I treated my sister and brother-in-law to takeaway pizza tonight, so me and my sis popped up to Pizza Hut to collect it, and I used a £20 gift card I got for £15 and my sister paid the remaining £2.75. And it was very nice

I am undecided. They only have 2 shops and are not Yankee Candles themselves (as far as I can tell) and dont really want to abuse an offer from a small company.0 -
I had a dose of perspective today too
A 19 year old was told that they had a very aggressive form of cancer

Emily_Rachel wrote: »Scary isn't it! When we lived in Germany I bought a very nice seasoned, rolled pork joint for a special meal. I roasted it 'as normal' and it was dry and disappointing. Then I saw a fab programme on TV with a bickering couple, middle-aged cooks famous in Germany, They advised how to cook this joint of pork (Spießbraten) and I followed their advice with the same kind of joint next time. What a difference! Moist meat with delicious gravy. I now cook all my meat joints this way, sort of steaming as you roast. You cut up an onion or two, two carrots, a stick of celery (if liked) and put into a roasting dish. Put seasoned joint into a big pan with 2tbs oil and fry, turning until gently browned all over. Put on top of the veg and pour about 3/4 litre of liquid over. For beef I use half red wine and half water, although beer can work instead of wine. For pork I use half water and half cider, for lamb half water and half grape juice. cover tightly with foil and roast for 30 minutes in a hot oven (around 200) and then turn oven down to 130 for remaining time. Somewhere around 20-30 minutes per 500g meat. Depends on type and cut of meat and how rare you like it. Add more water if it looks like it is drying up - you want the veg to stay moist. When cooked remove meat, cover with foil and rest until needed. Make the gravy by *skimming the fat off the pan juices and then liquidising all the roast veg and pan scrapings and juices in a saucepan, tasting and thickening as wished. You might need to add a bit more water. If you want to make the 'finishing' easy, a teaspoon or two of Bisto turkey gravy granules works here for all meats. Enjoy!(*I mix the fat that I skimmed off with brown bread and birdseed for my birds, so they get a treat too.)
this sounds really good and simple will definatly give it a go thanks a lot, will also try it with a pork joint i have in freezer as i have family down next week

Query from Tiny Shoes - does anyone know of any offers on the dry nights bedmats or can anyone suggest anything similar to use please?
I have had a quick look but can't see any good offers
Thanks
Hi DODO, you've probably found this already, but I just had a quick look at mys and Sada's Little Angels Bed Mats are £3 for 10, a bit cheaper as Huggies are £3.50 for 7 mats."We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough

My delivery man has just left and can happily report that my yogurts were bog3f.
Next time I will try floflos approach and make up a £50 order (if a glitch is found on a tuesday obviously) as delivery charge not very mse but was too tired to get to t's to collect.
Flaming snow meant I could not get a quick delivery slot but it worked and I am happy, although I thought I had ordered more than I had.
Many thanks to glenburg for a reasonably healthy glitch.

Somebody has reported on a facebook group that they did not go thru tills at 3 for £3 at sada today and they got a refund. However there is one on sada.com the "clean and nourish" which I think would go thru the tills at 3 for £3. Worth a try if still around tomorrow-hasten to add I have no need for handwash.......I have about 30 bottles and I am filling my dispenser with 2p Sainsburys bath cream:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:never stop doing your best because someone doesn't give you credit0
