Can you possibly shift your overdraft to a 0% card? I ask as our overdraft was a whopping 19% and crushing us, I switched it over then closed it so that I could re spend on it, this was a few years ago now and have thankfully never required it again

    Good luck

Thanks Elantan, Yes I am swapping what I can to 0% but they are usually 6 months which isn't long enough for me. I think I have taken advantage of all the 0% offers I can sadly!

I haven't done much money wise this week but am still watching what I spend. Had £100 bill for brake discs on car but should be getting a slight pay rise in my next pay which is good news! Got £25 from a marketing session and money back from a cancelled night out so some pluses!

    £30,000 still owing

    £9000 Barclaycard
    6000 Mastercard
    7000 Tesco card
    6000 2nd Mastercard
    2000 Santander

i tend to get new offers from virgin often... maybe every other month or so, also barclaycard, they tend to offer me 12 months at a time, not sure if that would help but maybe try them ( if you havnt already)

    Hi ragstoricheswannabe
Thank you for joining me! I know it's a long road to debt free but I am also determined to do it! I think it will take me around 6 years realistically which sounds awful but it is worth a go!
Hope we can manage this tremendous achievement together!!
    Still £30,000 to go!!!

Some improvement today! Managed to pay off Debenhams bill (£270) owing from Christmas shopping, so owe them zero!! it's such a good feeling!
Also the total owing is now £29,700
    Going down slowly but steadily!

Feeling despondent today. Can't stop thinking about money, what I owe, how much I haven't got left for the month and what I would like to buy! It's just constant battles in my head and I can't really see how it can improve!
Can't understand poor score for mortgage or anything apart from owing on the credit cards but never missed a payment and pass all the other things like voting roll, same address no bad debt listings. As it affects the mortgage it is upsetting and I don't know now how much the next payment is to be this month although it will be more than we have been paying on the fixed rate.
    :(

Sorry to hear you are a bit low .......its the roller coater ride of trying to get debt free unfortunately. Have you had some independent advice on your mortgage? Its probably more to do with your total debt in relation to your income rather than all the 'good points' - eg paying on time electoral roll etc.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I am feeling better today and more positive. Have managed to do a 0% bal transfer for 12 months which is a help and will look at the mortgage when partner has some time.
    Thank you ;)
  • the debt free journey is full of ups and downs. I have had many!! chin up and focus on the fact one day you will be debt free!!
