.... And determined not to spend a penny!!
Am ok for dinners, and at a push, lunches (thank goodness for the cheap Campbell's soup at b&m!)
It's just breakfast.. Just used the last of the cereal this morning, and there's just a few slices of bread left in the freezer.
My friend gave me the idea of making some scones for breakfast - although am out of sultanas, which is great, but me fail safe recipe needs milk, which I don't want to use up, need those cups of tea!!
So, any idea if I can make either a scone type recipe or a raspberry and white choc muffin recipe without milk? Could I just use a normal sponge mix and add the raspberry and white choc?
(I know the raspberry and white choc seems OTT for last few days before payday, but there's raspberries in the freezer and white choc in the cupboard
)
Or any other brekkie/snack suggestions?
Have a good stock of SR flour, some plain, caster sugar, brown sugar, 4 eggs, only a handful of oats, and a ton of mincemeat (damn you sainsburys!!!)
Thanks x

Do you have any yeast? You could maybe make a bread--perhaps stir in some mincemeat or cinnamon and sugar like a cinnamon loaf and then toast?0

American style pancakes, this one uses sr flour and water instead of milk, great standby when you run out of things.
Keep for a few days and easily zapped in the microwave in a morning x

You could make american style pancakes (virtually the same as drop scones) using water rather than milk, if you split the mix in half you could add some of your mincemeat to half of it and ring the changes. You could also make Breakfast Poppovers (Yorkie puds really) with an egg some S/R flour and water, I never use milk in mine and they always rise nicely. You could pop some mincemeat inside them and warm it in the oven for a nice pud. You could even add some raspberreies and white choc to warm through inside them and that would be very nice indeed.0

Great ideas, thanks!
Should've mentioned, it's brekkie for 2 of us

I have made lovely muffins with SR flour, sugar, 2 eggs, margarine and half a jar of mincemeat (again Sainsburys offer)0

I would make ordinary pancakes with lemon and sugar, which I prefer to the American style ones.
Or how about flapjacks with added nuts and dried fruitBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

If you have a little natural yoghurt lying around, you could make irish soda bread which doesn't need yeast? That would easily last 2 breakfasts for 2 of you.
You need to combine:
450 grams plain white flour,
1 level teaspoon salt
1 level teaspoon baking soda
Sour milk or buttermilk to mix - about 350 to 412 milliliters (use some natural yoghurt topped up to volume with milk here.
Mix all ingredients into a dough, then bake at 180 for 30 mins0 -
