Job seeking but going on Holiday in April

I've had a 4 day trip booked since last year and I'm now actively seeking work. Before this I've been doing voluntary work to gain experience but I'm really worried about it now. What if I get hired a week before I go away? Would they honour the holiday?

As long as you tell them before you accept and that the holiday will be honoured (probably unpaid) is agreed then its fine.
They may decide to delay your onboarding by a week or so subject to what training is required etc for the role.
Of cause in some cases where their is set training or a desperate need etc they may be unwilling to take on a candidate with an immediate holiday but they'd tell you that when you mention the requirement and then its your decision on priorities0 -
Thankyou!

Play it by ear if you get to interview.
if second interview leave it for that unless it is very clear the dates are critical.
If it is clear that they need certain training, start dates that clash etc bring it up.
If it goes well you will discuss terms like holidays policy anyway
Make it a condition of acceptance if offered.
They could do it unpaid but a sensible company will have you use holiday so you have fewer days left unless there are not enough to cover any fixed days in the rest of the holiday year.0 -
Dont mention the holiday and dont worry about it. Focus on the interview and the job you want and impressing your potential employers. Once they have made a decision to hire you and you are negotiating you can mention it - just say it is prebooked and they will accomodate you.
If you are the right person for the job an employer will want you long term even if you miss a few days initially.0 -
When I was interviewed for my job, they asked me at interview if I had a holiday booked; this was in June so perfectly acceptable to think a candidate may have a holiday booked, which I did and it was honoured.
If the OP is asked directly if he/she has a holiday booked, they must be honest and say they have, particularly if they would be unable to cancel and get refunded on their costs. OP, is this the case?0
