all you can then do is seek single occupancy and get 25%

    Assuming he is actually resident.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

The way things are going, it will cost X2 if you DON'T live in the place. In a similar situation, I got zero rated for 6 months, then a discretionary 6 month extension to this, making it a year. However once used up that's the end of the discount - all you can then do is seek single occupancy and get 25%

If the previous owner took the zero rating, you cannot apply for it again, only the balance of the 12 months.

The Class C Vacant possession had been taken previously. They were vague on the details and wouldn't say much. But I think the Vacant Possession was taken for 6 months, I don't know if it was extended up until I bought the house in month 8 or 9 as it is discretionary. But I doubt the remainder months are transferable and I don't think Durham County Council extend the 6 months

yea I'm a resident and have the 25% now. Think this is all I'm gonna get.

Just strange my brother got told to take his bath out to enable him to get the Class A exemption, and that was the council guy! He got the exemption too and his house was OK compared to mine!

He was in a different constituency

The Government bodies are always inconsistent to different areas. A postcode lottery again!

They would never put anyone on benefits in a house with no heating and water so why do they make me have to pay for one when I'm not living in it.
