OR and self employed records ....

Had phone call from OR saying I have to go in for a face to face meeting as i'm self employed .... i only do 18 hours cleaning for people i know . Do i need to take all records from when i started in 2002 ? There isn't a problem in doing so as i have had to keep them for working tax credits but they are hand written in a book is it best to take them or put them on a computer programme and print them off ???

Me being me, I'd put them on the PC, just makes it clear - we can read our writing but if yours is anything like me, no-one else will!

Yes. Don't second guess it. Ask the OR exactly what they need before ypu go. The OR's are strapped for time, and will appreciate the frankness. They are snowed under!

Normally the OR will specify exactly how much they need. In my case I was asked for two years.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

    dm,

Take your original records, anything else will look something less than genuine and possibly contrived. Chances are your O.R will only take a quick glance at them anyway; if you take a cute little summary your O.R may well ask what happened to the originals.

Agree with GIS, ring and ask OR - if they are happy with your book why put yourself through more work and stress of trying to make record look pretty

I'm self employed and at OR interview had my last statement of accounts to show income and OR was fine with that.
