Adding daughter to mortgage

I have recently split from my wife and am self-employed. I wish to remain in the marital home, as she has moved out, but may not be able to get the mortgage based on my current income. Therefore I was thinking of adding my daughter to the mortage so that we could use our joint incomes as a basis. However, my daugter is only employed on a rolling temporary contract. Therefore I was wondering if lenders would be willing to lend to us on this basis. Any advise would be most welcome.

You're going to have to ask the lender. Some have enlightened attitudes to employment contracts, some don't.

Have you considered what happens to your mortgage in a couple of years time if your daughter wants to buy her own home?

Yes. I am aiming to extend the property in the next couple of years and then sell it, and hopefully be able to provide her with a lump sum to use as a deposit for her own property.

My main concern is whether my current lender (Santander) will allow me to add her on to the mortgage.

The lenders who consider rolling contracts typically want to see that is has been renewed a few times before they will lend on that income. Abbey can tell you if they would consider based on length of service and number of times renewed. Hope this helps. best of luck
