My current deal with The Nationwide comes to an end and although the rate is low(2.5%) with a small part at 3.99%. I prefer the security of a fix rate deal so I know what I've got to pay each month. I'm also thinking of snowballing some other debts into the mortgage so I have one single payment to make(and then cut up the cards and keep our car for another 10 years!!) Current mortgage outstanding £202,000 with additional debts of about £25'000. Value of property about £500'000. My wife and I's joint income has probably gone down in real terms like everyone else and although I can comfortably pay the mortgage and other bits and pieces. If interest rates go sky high it would be a hammer blow.
Got a reasonable credit score with no missed payments or defaults. Any great deals for me and the wife out there?

I'm no expert, but the Britannia 5 year "no fee" 2.79% fixed rate is the best 5 year fix out there at the moment I believe.
Max 60% LTV which it looks like you would have.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -
You may struggle to consolidate debts of that level into your mortgage.
So better option may be to stay as you are and review your household budget thoroughly.0
