When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

morning folks,

Thought I'd start the thread today to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Hugs to those that need them and welcome to any newbies

Today I have /will :
  • Meals from stores, (will buy a jacket potato at work, filling from home)
  • Check banking
  • Use rail pass to get to and from work
  • Read papers online and a freebie at the station
  • When I get home start college work - although I don't think I will make college tomorrow, I need to get up to speed
  • Need to book study leave for my exam next week
  • Keep an eye out for any jobs
  • Have another early night - mainly to keep the bugs at bay
  • Have a LSD - £15 to last me til payday (Thursday)

Such a small list for me today

Take care all,
Candy xxx

    Two important things today :

    1) researching and applying for a new balance transfer card (NatWest 0% for 2 years the most likely). My 0% on my MBNA card ends in mid April so will leave £500 on it so that I can pay it in the meantime.

    2) researching and applying for an ISA to run parallel to this - so I 'repay' into the ISA (other than the monthly minimum) and pay the debt off at the end of the BT offer.

    Morning all!
a good start to the day so far! Am working from home - yay!
    So today :

have walked my gorgeous dog and so free fresh air and exercise and a great lift to the spirits!
feeling fab as had an alcohol free day yesterday and will have another today!
used free app to log calories
put washing on at 30 degree quick wash and have hung some up around house and some in tumble drier...
made pizza dough in breadmaker and will freeze it for another day
have whizzed up crusts of left over bread and put them in freezer to make topping for a future pasta/veg bake etc
have showered using the free 4 minute timer from waterboard
heating off as it is pretty mild here today
    today will be a NSD
listening to radio and charging my phone via my computer rather than having radio and charger plugged in separately!
checking bank accounts etc and spent a lot of last night reading Mortgage Free Wannabee thread and want to get onto addressing that very soon!
Had porridge for breakfast with some plain yoghurt jazzed up with little bit of honey
will have spanish omelette for lunch using up bits of left over veg in the fridge
chilli tonight which i made last night - should be some left over for tomorrow's lunch to take to work

Extra bonus : I thought I knew exactly what was in my fridge at all times as it is the smallest fridge in the world but spotted some halloumi in there which I shall delight in making into a veggie meal later this week! Funny how such small things cause great happiness when you have converted to an MSE state of mind!!

    have a great day everyone!!
Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Today is my sunday, back to work tomorrow. Yesterday was a good day, only spent on essentials.

Today have taken out a mystery lunchbox from the freezer for my lunchtime meal. Suspect its sausage stew again. Tonight I think we'll probably finish up the fish pie I made on sunday.

Still planning a no shopping week, we only need essentials like milk, bread, and fruit. Stuck to that so far.

I am still really confused about the concept of NSDs. People seem to say they've had a NSD even when they've bought petrol, or milk or something. Can anyone help me on that?

Accepted for the NatWest card with a £3.1k limit so can transfer £2,900 of my £3,800 balance. Will leave some on there and transfer £500 to my Santander card which has a 0% for 12 months offer.

Will put the ISA off for a month as most offers seem to be promotional rates for 12 months.

Regarding an NSD or NSW - surely by definition this should be no spend at all for either the day or week? The only exception being paying off existing debt, not any new debts?

Determined, what is your new pattern for? I'm always looking for ideas of stuff to add to my 'I want to make but probably never will' folder :rotfl:

    Morning all

Well, here I am two days before payday, and I still have money in the bank  Who'dve thought it :rotfl:
Not much in the bank, a whole £10.31. DH is putting £10 of fuel in the car today, so 31p in credit :j

Need to make a start on next month's budget!
All food from stores (cereal for breakfast, soup for lunch and something out the freezer for dinner)
Lots of free coffee and juice at work
Need to do a washing tonight, got about 2 washes to do :o
Will get the floors cleaned tonight, maybe do the polishing as well
Check swagbucks, onepoll, competitions boards and freebies

Erm, think that's about it really. Have a good day y'all!
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
