Holiday Requests

Hello Folks
Thanks for all the input, my friend has been reading the forum today and has told me that no one had asked for or has planned any holidays until at least the summer. There has been no change in management and the email was sent completly out of the blue.
I think my friend was a little shocked and upset that the matter could not have been dealt with in a more sensitve way, as the company they work for is only a small family firm. As I said in the 1st posting, my friend has worked there for nearly 20 yrs and really knows what their work entails, they also have an excellent attendance record.
My friend is also worried just how far this "condition of employment" can go ? Could they shorten thier lunch hour, could they say they have to work Saturdays or start earlier in the morning etc !!!

I think your friend is being a tad oversensitive tbh.
At the end of the day if no one books this time of its all irrelevant isn't it. And regarding condition of employment, the ability for the employer to legally govern when holiday is taken doesn't mean they can alter terms of contract as easy.Don't trust a forum for advice. Change of hours usually - and I say that because there are exceptions - usually does need contract amendments depending on the contract and how its written.
No need to cross that bridge until your friend is even sure it exists!0 -
If your friends employer wanted to they could dictate the dates that staff had to take their holidays without her having a say in the matter, indeed this already happens to some people.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Yes they probably could, if the business needs deem it so. Or if they don't, and the manager just wants to wind your friend up a little. So choose your fights carefully, is my advice.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0
