Since my S.O.A...

Options
So, since posting my SOA (found here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4383971 )

We've made these changes...

Student loan now paid off (well, overpaid but will claim what we're owed back) so we're up another £219pcm. :T

We've switched our phone line/broadband service to a more suitable package for less than £10pcm, instead of £35-40.

Currently taking part in the February Grocery Challenge so cut our spending by £400pcm.

Cut our clothing budget to 0 this month, although bought some second hand jeans (5 pairs) and a few other bits for the total of £6 for DS.

Cut our fuel budget to £200.

Cut our house insurance and paid for it as an annual sum.

Cut boiler cover to £16pcm.

Set credit card repayments to the minimum, but pay extra where we can.

Also, finally gotten through to my husband that we were overspending on things we didn't need to! That we should budget and save for appropriate things. I feel much more in control of our finances now. The Earn £2013 in 2013 thread has REALLY helped, I've sold all sorts on eBay and Facebook. So pleased with myself!

Cheers

  • I made our first overpayment on one of the Credit Cards yesterday. It felt amazing and I wanna tell the world!!! £200 gone. And with £100 still in our account before my pay day tomorrow, I'll be seeing where I can pull the strings in somewhere else! Fingers crossed for some more overpayments! :j
