This sums it up nicely.
The Tories are not doing a great job, not by any stretch.
labour, however, would have been far far worse.0 -

Bear in mind he's 2.
OK Graham - you (will be) advising him that he should work hard, leave school with decent qualifications so he can make the most of the opportunities that are available at the time. In the meantime you're worried that things may be worse so will be trying to ensure that you'll be in a position to help him out if needs be.
That's not apathy as you tried to imply - it's planning.0 -
That's not apathy as you tried to imply - it's planning.
The apathy wasn't anything to do with my son or what I am / am not / might be doing for him.
The apathy was used to describe the situation we are in now politically. Just letting crisis after crisis build.
So let's not twist things eh.0 -

No twisting - you said the the crisis in pensions, jobs, housing was due to the following apathetic attitude.Mr._Pricklepants wrote: »An alternative to hoping and waiting what the government will do, would be to plan ahead for a worst case scenario and make the necessary financial arrangements that might be beneficial to him when he reaches the house buying stage.
That sounds like good proactive advice especially for someone with grave concerns that crisis after crisis may well be the norm.0 -

When they are 18 and have the vote they are adults and responsible for themselves.
If politicans have failed they should be honest about and face the consequences.
Isn't one of the motivations for financial success being able to help your children whether they are legally adults or not?
Politicians will never be honest about failures and the consequences of failure won't involve them helping my kids out as a result.
Not so much planning to fail but putting some insurance in place.0 -

'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

I thought so too.
My reply was to:Graham_Devon wrote: »I don't know what sort of crisis levels we will need to get to before a mass building programme starts. I do believe it will happen one day. I just hope it's not too late for my son and his cousins.
Simply saying that believing and hoping for what any government might or might not do about matters affecting the wellbeing of your kids is not the smartest thing. Better plan for the worst case and concentrate your efforts planning for the day your son comes to the house buying stage.
Graham calls that sarcy parental guidance to gain the upper hand. Oh well. Probably has another internet war to win.

I think Labour would have done just a bit worse, Libdems alone would have done much better, but not as good as UKIP, who would have done marginally better than a Conservative majority. Don't know about the Greens, probably would have done worse than Labour, or maybe not.
In other words, stop your tory fanboy trolling wookie. Please.0 -
Graham doesn't like you guys coming onto his board and naysaying his posts. Get with the program. 'Thank' him and move on.
The whole point of this board is to give a forum to Graham to allow him to get his moans off his chest to 23 other people so that he can continue to do nothing at all about his problems/issues but convince himself he's making a difference.0
