Thanks KG,
My mum and a friend have offered to help me out and I can pay them back without interest. I do feel like I don't want to be bailed out though as I deserve to suffer for being so stupid!!
It's funny, i've been spending more on food these days as probably a buffer to having no social life and then I'm putting on weight and nothing fits!! The problem with that is the bigger the clothes I buy the more I will get comfortable in them don't you think? :0)
I've been looking for p/t jobs at the moment. Overtime is out of the question at the moment as I've not got enough work to keep me in full time employment, which has been another pressure.
I know it might look like I'm trying to make excuses, but I sometimes feel like I'm on a self collision course!!
Will look into the dissertations thing.
Many thanks,

Hi Choccy,
know that feeling, have put on weight since starting my current job that I have had to buy new stuff to wear to work - had work uniform in previous workplace.
If I were you I'd borrow off your mum / friend and they will ensure that you keep on right path from then on - it's their money
Do some of your friends / neighbours have dogs which they don't take for walks? What about you taking them, get the exercise and charge some money same time?
As for the food things, people do recipe things here? and stick to it and reduce a lot of food waste too - so less waste, more money in your pocket and less food to eat when you feel bored?
Another thing you could do, have you updated your CV recently? If your bored at work and not enough work there for you, could you look for a better job which pays more towards your debts?
Now I must stop eating the chocolate biscuits as I've got to reduce weight before my interview!!!

Hi KG,
Lol. Thanks for not judging. You're full of good ideas.
I've been glued to this site for the last couple of days and can't believe how much I've been wasting on food. Been looking at the brand comparisons which is really good.
My friend has a dog and said I can borrow her anytime for a trot around the block :0)
I also had an interview last week. Don't think I've got it though. Will know by Friday, but it's been a boost to get an interview. Been with my employer for nearly 4 months and I think I've made a HUGE mistake. Will keep on looking though.
I made the microwave flapjacks yesterday and they were great. Just a shame that they don't stay in the fridge long enough!!! :0)
Take care and thanks,
Choc :T0 -
I think the thing to do is to make a list, and then try and do just one thing a week at first ie
change utility providers
check that your insurnces are the cheapest
switch via https://www.quidco.com if they aren't and get cash back
use up food in cupboard/freezer
start to meal plan
start to shopping list plan
send off for bank statements if you have any charges to pay off
check if you are in the correct band for council tax, you can get a rebate if you aren't
etc etc
If you can do one of these a week say, then you will feel like you are more in control, and you mum will see you are making an effort
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks for the useful tips Chev,
I've been meaning to get round to doing the bank chgs for ages as I'm sure there will be at least a couple of hundred quid to get back if not more -better than a slap in the face :rotfl:
I am quite good at shopping around for things, i've always done that, but the meal and shopping plans will probably be one of the big tasks for me. The boards have some good food ideas.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Choccy
You may be surprised with your interview, you might have done better than you expected, if not well at least it's another experience towards the next one. I thought I'd done abysmal in my previous job interview but was offered it a few hours later - thought the HR boss was joking with me!
I've had a few interviews by putting my CV on job websites, but I've got the luxury of living at home with my parents and can relocate at a months notice. When I realised I'd have to fight my employer for my job I decided not to buy my own place and just ploughed any spare cash into savings. I know that I'd have lost the place if I had bought somewhere when I was going through all the legal things and certainly not have been able to keep house on current salary. Just hope my current employer doesn't realise I've got an interview in a three weeks! I've been in current job for 10 months and average staying time in post is 12 months and I've been looking since I got here!

Hi KG,
You not happy with work either then? I didn't get the job I went for. They let me know by email!! Thought that was a bit bad really. Anyway I've asked for some feedback.
Good luck with your search.
I've sold my mobile and lent the money to pay off the credit card and I was good this week when I went food shopping and only spent £15, a lot better on some of the stuff I've been splashing out on. I've also been taking my lunch to work and not buying sandwiches.
Anyway onwards and upwards :j
Take care,

Hi Choccy,
Sorry to hear about the job, ask for feedback - it was pretty bad of them telling you by email though. Went for one job recently and they've re-advertised the job after the closing date and I've not been told if they'll look at the ones that sent in the last applications! I keep on being told that I look frightened in interviews!
Glad to hear about the not as much spend week! I've done opposite but I'm hoping that a lot of the money will be reimbursed (here's hoping anyway).
I enjoy my job but it's brain numbing and I want a challenge, colleagues where I am are all lovely (except one, but boss tells us all to ignore her!) it's supposed to be a stop gap until I get a better one either internal post or elsewhere. Still thinking of emigrating though, but will apply for a few jobs here before then and if I get anything probably stay here.
So you've done the cutting back of food spending, what about doing those letters for the reimbursement of bank charges this week?
