Downside of your plan is Tescos reverts to SVR of 4.24%. Above HBOS at 3.99%.

So maybe worth seeing what HBOS will offer you as well.

As remortgaging to a new lender can incur sizable fees if not part of the mew mortgage offer.

Halifax current best rate is 3.54% - Tesco fee is only £195 or do you mean fee moving away from Tesco after their rate ends?

    Fees for remortgaging.

Mortgage redemption fee for current mortgage.
    Legal costs.
    Valuation fees.

Some deals include free legals and valuation.

Any indication of what they might be? Mortgage redemption is surely free/no cost as I will at the end of my deal?

This is clearly the areas I need assistance.

    Thanks

Deals in the range of 2.79% for two years, which you've been looking at, would come with things like free valuations, free solicitors and minimal arrangement fees.

I can only see the fee you will incur being the £195 you mentioned on the tesco deal or less on other rates.

    Good luck

Halifax now have a deeds release fee of £245 to pay too close the mortgage which you may incur so better check your mortgage offer from them.
