HELP! Jury Service Expenses and Tax Deduction Errors?!

Hi All,
I started Jury service on the 11th February 2013 - Great experience and great people, really enjoyed it!
anyway - the real issue here. I've asked my company to put my expenses down in the Certificate of lost earnings - of which they have but I believe it's completely wrong. They state I earn on a daily basis a NET (after Tax and NI) £33.73.
My Gross Hourly Rate: £6.6143
My Gross Daily Rate (7.5hrs): £49.60
This means they say I get taxed: £15.33 a day! If I was being taxed like this for 21.68 Days (an average working month) I'd pay £332.35 which is around 1/3 of my earnings.
They are saying this is correct, I believe it is not as it does not match up with my exisiting pay packets.
Who should I seek advice from?
thanks.

On this website, you can work out your daily net pay easily. Just input your hourly rate and the number of hours/week you work and it will do the job for you.
If the answer is different to that your employer has used then print out the workings and go talk to them.0 -
You have a tax code which gives you a certain amount of income free of tax. When you do jury service, you will still have that same tax free amount reflected in your pay. So, what they have probably done is the correct thing which is to report your marginal net earnings, which is your net pay minus tax assuming a tax code of BR.You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

Hi My tax code is: 810L
So, what you're saying ValHaller is the tax is correct?0 -
Your net pay for jury service should be calculated using a tax code of BR rather than 810. So the pay will be less than you expect. I don't know if their calculation is correct - but if you calculate using a tax code of BR you should get the same result.audioeffects wrote: »Hi My tax code is: 810L
