Hotel room that didn't exist

Hi, first time poster. I booked a two night break through all cheap hotels.com at the holiday inn kings cross, london. When we arrived they had no room for us but we had a voucher and a confirmation email from all cheap hotels.com. Holiday inn then wanted to charge us another 350 pounds for two nights. We had to book a cheaper room elsewhere. I paid via debit card for the holiday inn. Have I lost my money to a dodgy website and should the holiday inn have been more sympathetic? Thanks to anyone who can help.

What have the company said? did you contact them when you arrived at the hotel and they said there was no booking?
re "should the holiday inn have been more sympathetic" it sounds like they had not been paid for the room and there was no booking, I doubt they were in a position to give you a free room0 -
I have tried to contact the company but the phone number doesn't exist and there has been no reply to the emails0

I did use a natwest visa debit card. The total was 160 pounds. Do I just contact the natwest? Sorry for my questions as this hasn't happened to me before.0

Thanks very much. The website is still up and running and taking bookings. I don't know how many others have been duped by them.0
