DCA has contacted me

Hi

I have a debt on a credit card that I've been paying £1 to the cc company. Now a DCA (Credit Solutions) have contacted me saying they are now collecting for this debt. Now I'm not just going to start paying some mob money just because they write me a letter! But I'm not sure how to verify they have legitimately got the debt. I suppose I need confirmation from the original cc, so should I ask the DCA for that? Or is that all a bit over the top?

I am aware I could ask for the CCA etc, even though I don't actually dispute the debt. Maybe this could also be a way to establish their bona fides?

Thanks

You should ask them to produce the signed credit agreement.
Without this they have nothing to collect.
    Be happy...;)
  • lol I kindof thought that is the way to go, and I suppose if they do produce it that shows they are legit, which is really what I'm mostly concerned about. I've no worries coughing up the £1 a month, just want to make sure they are legit.
  • They could be collecting on behalf of original company. If they sold it on there would be a notice of assignment you could get a copy of.

I would ask te original creditor what the score is.

You can still pay and Submit a CCA request. Send to original company and if they sold the debt they will forward it on.

  • Notice of Assignment - now that sounds like what I'm after! Presume I get that from the original cc?
  • Or the DCA. Maybe try both :)

  • Hmmm Not sure I'd trust it if it came from the DCA, depending what it looked like of course. If it was just generic, for example. But thanks! Notice of assignment - must remember that bit of jargon :T

notice of assignments are printed by the dca's on l/head provided by the or
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

That's sick. :( But I suppose at least it shows they do have some connection to the or.
