Type of Tennancy agreement/form to show to OR

Hi all,
Normally reside on Travel Boards but hope you can advise. Am helping a close friend to go BR (absolutely no other way for him). He plans on giving up his property (negative equity) & moving in with his girlfriend (she has a 2 bedroom flat which she rents from a local estate agent).
Now the advice he's been given is that he will have to provide a tennancy agreement (+ possibly a rent book) to show the monthly ammount & what rent has been paid.
WH Smith have these forms but which type of tennancy will it be? The rent will be £350 PCM including bills (but not phone/tv licence).
Any ideas?

Hi TM,
Who has been advising your friend?
Tennancy Agreements are usually a Short Term Tennancy Agreement based on a minimum of 6 months.

A simple receipt will, probably suffice for the OR. Your friend's girlfriend should check the T&C on her own agreement to see if it is affected by 'sub-letting'.
On the other hand, though, if your friend is 'moving in' with his GF, then he may, simply, be able to claim 50% of ALL expenditure, including Electric, Phone, Council Tax etc.
I suggest that your friend talks to CAB for more definitive advice.:beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

We used the ones from WHSmith. The OR has not however asked for any proof of ours as of yet.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0

And you won't unless they consider the amount to be 'unreasonable'.
Once BR, you are legally obliged to be truthful about your affairs, and the OR depends upon this so that their workload is manageable.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

And yet it says on the BR forms that you must provide an agreement/rent book. Yet that's obviously not true.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0

You mean:
You must take or send to the Official Receiver a copy of your lease or rent agreement.
A rent demand or rent book will help if you do not have a copy agreement.
It is odd, as they take your word for so much else. In the end it is proof they might request, and this could be your agreement/rent book or a partners to which you contribute 50%.
With respect to the OP, I don't think it should be a great concern
The OR will write to them after BR and request any needed documents.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I had to send a copy of our tenancy agreement as well as the bank statements showing the rent payments...and the OR's letter requesting this info said I had fourteen days in which to do it....or else?:eek:0 -

Just goes to show that each OR's office works a little differently.
I think the rule of thumb is, just comply with all requests from the OR and you will be fine.
