Part-time Student Loans for an OU course
Mismatched
Hey guys,
I just wondered if anyone on here could help, as I am finding the information available online slightly confusing. I recieved full-time funding for 2 years of an undergraduate degree 2007-2009. I received no credits as I did not take my final exams and dropped out. I know I will only be eligible for 2 years more funding from student finance, and whilst going back full time would be wonderful, I could not afford to fund the first year.
I am considering an OU degree as an alternative (i am currently a SAHM), but cannot find information on whether part-time study loans are availible to those who have had previous funding for full-time study? Has anyone on here had a similar experience or know what the rules are?
Thank you for your help!

Did you complete either your first year and your second year or did you repeat a year and not pass any stage?
In other words, do you have any transferable credit. You don't have to have completed a degree for this. There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0 -
I repeated a year, I don't believe I have any transferable credit.0

In that case you will need to pay for at least one year of study as you should be able to get another 2 on a student loan. However, I believe that you pay this first and then get the funded years. So, if you study PT through the OU over 6 years to get a full degree, years 3-6 will be funded. Years 1-2 you will have to pay £2,500 per year if you study 60 credits each year. a Total outlay of £5,000 before funding applies.
There is not maintenance funding for PT study.
You should check this though with the OU firstThere are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0
