Switching Energy Provider

I'm serving my bankruptcy out at the moment and I would like to try and switch energy supplier. Am I able to switch? Do I have to tell them I'm bankrupt? Are they likely to accept if I applied?

I would have thought that if you have already gone bankrupt, that it would show up on a credit report. You will possibly be accepted, (depends on the provider and their criteria - or how fussy they are,) but they may wish to install meters. (As obviously you are not going to be eligible for credit with a bankruptcy against your name.)
  • Might be best to wait until I'm discharged then?

Um! yes you can get credit as a BR. If it is under £500 then you are under no obligation to tell the company. If it is over £500 you need to tell them. Lots of people on this board have changed suppliers with no problems what so ever and no meters put in as there is no debt.
