I cooked some extra pasta and sauce for hubby to take to work. We go out for a hour or two to come back to find that he had put it in his pasta and sauce for lunch the next day. And left it out so it was it was still luke warm. I went off the walls. I said what are you trying to do give yourself food poisoning. As you can only heat already cooked meat once. And you never leave meat out at room temp. You are asking for trouble.
Not sure what you can do with left over porridge. But personally I would throw it away until you get the chickens. As I can't imagine it would be very hygenic to re-use to be eaten after it has been in or on someone elses plate/bowl. And they have put spoon/fork in there mouth and back on or in the food. But that is just me.

its not just squeamishness - FACT
if some saliva has got into food then it will go runny because of the enzyme amylase, which starts to digest the food - yummeee, thats why if you have ever looked at any half eaten food later on it will have started to go runny.
We used to be allowed to do an amylase experiment at school but i think its not allowed now because of hygeine. Lump of stale bread in a cup, spit on it then leave it and watch it sloooowwwly turn to mush. Kids on todays over safety conscious science classrooms are being deprived.

Acckkk. I cook prepacked pepperoni pizza (the meat is already cooked) eat half - cool the rest to room temp then put in the fridge and heat it up again up to two days later and it has never made me ill, EVER. I had never thought of it as reheating cooked meat twice before now but I see now that it is!
Basically if you dont live in a hermetically sealed container, but expose yourself to a few bacteria then you will be OK0 -

Well if you have never made yourself ill you must have steel guts
But I was always taught that you can cook and freeze meat and then re-heat it once more. But no more because of the bacteria.
But if you nuke it in the microwave I assume that it kills all bugs better than using a pan to re-warm it slowly.
But I have a bit of funny tummy and suffer from what I can only call a very mild form of irritable bowel occasionally. And would not want to give myself more problems.
As I have found sometimes when eating out on the rare occasionals that we do. I come home and find myself double over in pain. I can't tell if it is the food or just my stomach having a funny 5 mins or not. Because it sometimes happens with a homecooked meal as well.
So tend to be a bit more careful and fussy with my food. But I still try and not throw food away. That is why I use frozen veg apart from cabbage as frozen cabbage is nasty.

People do say that I have steel guts -- and a tapeworm since I eat continuously. Mostly good healthy stuff though, fruit and veg, wholemeal bread, nuts, raisins etc. I get the shakes if I dont eat - is it lunchtime yet? phew, nearly0

I reckon I get three meals a week out of my flat mates left-overs - that makes it sound really gross but I am talking about 1. cold pizza, 2. cold pasta. 3. bread that was going to be thrown out cus it was stale but is now bread pudding. Can we add this to the pin money total do you think?!!
I have to say I would never re-heat rice after it had been hanging about for a few days, and leftover fish dishes definately lose their appeal pretty quickly!
The worst food poisoning I ever had was from a meringue which generally look quite innocent - goes to show, you never can tell!I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000
