Leeds building society waiting for mortgage offer

Congrats on your mortgage offer.
Hi zarf.
We were also asked for a year's bank statements to show proof of rent payments as well. There was a slight complication with ours however as we decided one month last year to change the date we paid rent from the end of the month to the 1st. It therefore appeared that we hadn't paid rent one month so NBS decided they wanted a reference from our Landlord.
It took them 2 weeks to decide they wanted this and a further few days for them to actually send the reference out. The Landlord received it at the weekend and this is apparently the last thing they need to get the offer out the door.
On the deposit question, we haven't been asked to show proof of this (yet!). We are about 6 weeks into our application at the moment but thankfully our move-in date is still 2 months away.
We didn't get AIP before applying but we have checked our credit report and it shows they did check our score at the end of Feb.
Our mortgage advisor has ended up putting in an official complaint due to their poor service to date but you never know they may be able to process yours quicker!
thanks,
which agency did they check with? i used checkmyfile.com which shows all 3 but nothing showed up.....i think they will check it soon however but just surprised they didnt at the AIP stage...
from what ive heard they are overwhelmed with applications but luckily i dont have to move until may/june so will just have to wait it out!
just out of interest is your deposit 100% savings or are you also using the parent bank?!0 -

On my Experian report it says the search was done by Newcastle Building Society. I meant to type they did the search at the start of feb not the end so they did the search about 3/4 days in after receiving our application.
Mixture of both for the deposit.0 -

We got our mortgage offer through the post from Newcastle today... over the moon!
We are FTB's and applied for a 95% LTV mortgage. It took about 43 days all in and that was for a property bought in Scotland.
There is hope out there for all you FTB's!!0 -

Congrats, I'm about a week and a half into my application so a bit to go, btw how soon did they do the valuation and how did they inform you about it? I chose the middle option homebuyers report!0 -
Thanks! We live in Scotland so the process is different and the seller provides us with a home report for free which I think would be the equivalent of a valuation.
Understand they are extremely busy at the moment and doing heavy overtime to sift through applications. I would suggest to chase them regularly.. They received our last bit of documentation on Thursday and if my mortgage advisor hadn't persisted they were quoting a 10 day turnaround to pass to the underwriters to issue the offer! The sellers solicitors had been chasing us to finalise the offer so we needed a quick turnaround and they looked at it in a day.0 -

Oh yeah I forgot, Scotland has a sensible house buying system unlike the numpties in England where we can be gazumped just giving more money to surveyors!
I really wish this government would overhaul the process as it is long overdue.
I am hoping as a FTB in rented accommodation the only person who can trump us is a cash buyer so fingers crossed! I will keep chasing them as it seems ridiculous that some people have had a full offer from nationwide after 3 weeks!0
