Defined Pension Scheme Rules

Does anyone know if there are rules in place that Defined Pension schemes have to follow rules as to how and when % lump sums are paid out from the scheme when the retiree has reached pension age
or does each scheme do their own thing ? I am due to be paid mine this week although I've heard nothing since I spoke with the pension manager four weeks ago. He confirmed that I would receive it on or around the day due followed by the first pension payment in week 12 (22/3/13). Anyone else had problems getting blood out of a stone ? (he's not in work this week so I'm having to wait until Monday to vent my frustration on him) :naughty:

Your occupational pension will be governed by the rules of the scheme.
on or around the day due

The day due was? "Around" - three or four days either side?
