I just had a look at the website and I think this is an absolutely fantastic idea! What a great way to help the community whilst also using up food that would otherwise be thrown away.
I work for a supermarket and the amount of food we are made to throw away is criminal. Most of it is bread that would be perfectly fit for consumption the next day but just wouldn't be as fresh as a customer would like. I am working towards getting my store (and hopefully all of them) to donate their leftover food to something like this and/or a food bank.
After reading up about foodcycle on their website I would love to have been able to volunteer but unfortunately there is no 'Hub' near me0 -
I've volunteered with Foodcycle for quite a while now and it really is a great organisation, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of volunteering or supporting in any way. It's a small organisation which actually makes a difference to local people - something which is rarely seen at the moment!
Worth adding that all meals are completely vegetarian.0 -
Love to hear things like this. Makes my day to know someone is actually doing something about food waste.0
