Insurance on loans - is it compulsary???

Hi all,

My mum took out a loan with M+S for £5000 - they said because of her age (60) she had to take insurance. Can a bank force someone to take out insurance??

Many thanks in advance

thanks, I thought so too but better double check - are there any threads on going about challenging M+S for possible mis-selling and to cancel the PPI??

    Thank you
