Job Seeking - Your Experience.

Hi All,

For those who have recently been job seeking or whom are currently job seeking, how are you finding it?

What tactics are you using, e.g. submitting perhaps 1-2 applications per day or perhaps week?

What job are you looking for Hurricane? can you work full time or part time? Do you have any restrictions?

whilst you are 'supposed' to go on Universal Jobmatcher for the JSA register on there and then for every job you see on there try to find out who is advertising the job for real... applicaitons done via UJ won't reach the person, there's no opportunity to put a cover letter in either. just attach your CV and away you go.
I use REED, Monster, Indeed and Jobsite I also use two agencies that are specific to my field of expertise (science).
I have each of these sites set up to emither me whenever a matching job comes up I then read these emails daily and apply for the job as soon as I hear about it.
    GOOD LUCK m8

    Tough!

I've been job seeking on and off since Sept 2010 when I finished university. I'm very lucky that I have been in work much more than I've been out of it, but I am desperate to finally find a full-time, permanent job so I don't have to constantly spend my life checking the job websites. I've been out of work since Dec but have got a little bit of money coming in from self employment (little been the keyword, less than I would be getting if on JSA).

I believe this is the worst it has been for employment in my area. I cannot even remember the last time I found a job to apply for. In the past I've applied for 5+ jobs a day, so it really shows how bad things have got now I probably don't even find that many to apply for in a week, sometimes even a month. I spend all day refreshing the job websites, sending out emails and trying to make contact with various organisations but I feel like I am getting nowhere.

The new job centre website is horrendous. Most the jobs are scams, or not even in my area. The same jobs are posted day-in, day-out. The only websites I find useful are Jobsite and the local council sites. I've never heard anything from any of the websites that have a CV database, nor linkedin.

I just find it so, so depressing. I feel like my whole life is on hold. Really struggling to remain positive at the moment.

Don't get too excited, it's probably just a case of me been too quick to judge and overusing the word scam! Although I have seen what I believe are scam jobs on there in the past with 070 numbers listed etc. To be fair to the job centre these do seem to removed pretty fast.

The jobs that put me off using the website were from Ahuja holdings. I did research before contacting them as I am paranoid about handing my details over to anyone and they do seem to be a legit company but every email I sent enquiring about jobs received an automated style response, completely ignoring any questions I asked. It just appeared like they were following a script. The jobs I was looking at were advertised over and over again for weeks. The whole thing didn't add up at all.

Quite true. you only have to look on scamwarners for the fake job opportunities. However, I am the man who applies for fake scam jobs.
