State pension - start date

Options
Hi,

Read in another thread that the date on which they start your pension payment period can be a week after your actual birth date.
Seems its not only paid in arrears its started in arrears as well.
Looks like you have to collect the extra weeks money from the grave !

Got my details recently but for my birth date of the 4th they say payment will be calculated from the 17th.

A two week gap seems to be taking things a bit far, or is this now the norm ? where do they stop ??

Can I do anything about it ?

I really don't think it is related to birth dates any more. Whole cohorts get the same start dates now. Really not worth worrying about as nothing you can do. I will just be glad to get mine next month.

The information you are looking for is here.

They use not only your DoB but your NI number, if you think they have it wrong write to them that information and your calculation of when it should start and ask them to show you why thier calculation disagrees.

    The site says this:

    Before 6 April 2010

Your state pension became payable from the first Monday following your SPA. It is then paid every Monday thereafter.

My wife reached SPA before 6 April 2010 - she gets her SP on a Friday - this site is just plain wrong.

Did she maybe defer her pension so that she fell to be paid under the new arrangement?

no - took her pension when she turned 60 - as I said in my previous post - it's just plain wrong - don't use it or rely on it.

I have just typed "state pension payment days" into google and found a long and detailed parliamentary briefing note with all the details
    and changes [PDF]
Pension Payday ( PDF, 8 pages, 97.65 KB) - Parliament

    This might clarify.
