Delivering Catalogues... I think?

Good Afternoon All!
I was hoping you may be able to offer me some advise.
Yesterday evening I applied for a part time job (through Job Centre online), which advertised as 'Delivering Catalogues' in my area (I'm a student in mid Wales)
The company seems really shady in terms of the information they are providing.
The emails I am receiving are from ' Vision Focus Group'. The initial email requested me to watch a video about the company (which was Kleneeze) , but the 15 minute video had no information about the job, only about how much money people were making!
I have asked the guy for more information but he dosen't give anything away, he now wants to call me and said I need to be near a computer to go through earning potentials and discuss the business?
This all seems a bit suspect for a simple catalogue delivery job.
Can anyone help? Have you heard of these companies?
Thanks in advance!!:j

I dont think its just delivering the catalogues. You also have to go round and collect the catalogues back after a couple of days and also take orders. Once the orders arrive you have to then go out and deliver them to the ppl who ordered. I dont think theres much money in it and definitely not worth all that bother.
I hate getting the Kleeneze catalogue through the door its just annoying when they come back to collect it so I just leave it out n the doorstep.0 -
Thanks for your quick reply.
I see, so I deliver the catalogues on my round, and then a week later I have to collect them back. Is it just a case of picking the orders up from outside or would I need to knock on every door?
I am against door to door selling so I hope I wouldn't be expected to partake in this.
I am a full time student so I am only looking for a little bit of income on the side.
Have you worked in this line before?:T0 -
If it is Kleeneze, bare in mind that you have to pay for the catalogues and will lose money on any that are not returned from the doors that you put them through.
I did the job a few years ago but gave up long before I was able to get a regular customer base. I worked long hours trying to get catalogues back and also trying to get people at home to make the deliveries and as it is cash on delivery, I also had to go back if the householder had no cash to give me which meant more time and travelling costs for me.0 -
Awesome. Thanks for your help.
I'll defo give it a miss then. No wonder the agent was so keen, and would never tell me the job responsibilities ect.
Very shady.
So guess I'll keep on looking for a legitimate job!
Much appreciatedIf it is Kleeneze, bare in mind that you have to pay for the catalogues and will lose money on any that are not returned from the doors that you put them through.

Similar jobs available with Betterware but they don't charge you for the catalogues.
There is a long thread about Kleeneze V's Betterware on the forum somewhere.0 -

I have done Betterware but not Kleeneze. Its basically the same but I didnt have to pay for the catalogues. Yes you usually have to knock on the doors to get the catalogue back and people get annoyed and some have lost the catalogue etc. Total nightmare. I cant believe I did all that.0 -
I delivered avon catalogues and it's a lot of work for not much money, unless you just sell to friends and family. When I first started I had to put hundreds of books through doors and then collect them all in (well the ones who answered the door) to then have to sort through all the order forms and submit them online by a certain date then once the orders came from avon you have to sort them all out and deliver them. Of course if the customers aren't in then you have to go back. Not really worth it unless you want to do it full time0

I use to do it for next
Made hardly any money0 -
I've done this with Kleeneze. The reason agents are so keen to recruit is because they receive financial benefits from having more team members (it's a pyramid scheme, so they get a small commission from everything you sell).
It's not that you can't earn money doing with Kleeneze catalogues, lots of people do and the people who recruited me were earning a good chunk of their wage doing it. The big BUT is that unless you're in it for the long haul then your financial gains won't be worth the work you're putting in - you'll probably be earning a lot less than minimum wage to begin with. Better financial gains only come by building a customer base and team which can take quite a lot of time.
I quit after about eight months. It wasn't worth it for me and I'm quite socially anxious so I would get terribly nervous when I had to knock on doors to ask for the catalogues (it was very unusual to get anyone who was rude to me, but I still hated it).0 -
We've had Kleeneze and Betterware catalogues delivered here in the past and have even bought things on occasion. This is a very rural area though and the travelling and low numbers of houses to deliver to have obviously made it unprofitable for the deliverers. We never seem to get the same agent more than twice! Certainly no time to build up a rapport with any of them.
I suppose in a more built-up area the rewards from doing this job might be worth it but as other posters have said there is a lot of time, effort and outlay on travelling costs and catalogues to make it a non-starter in my opinion. Also, their stuff isn't cheap and with so many similar items being available at discount stores and poundshops I can't see why anyone would want to buy much from these catalogues any more.
Good Luck!
Do you have a car? I usually deliver Yellow Pages and the BT Phone Book every year. Look out for ads in your local paper when they are recruiting. Pay isn't much and you need to store your batch of books somewhere at home until you get them delivered (only a matter of days though). Its all over and done with in a week each time. You won't get rich doing it but every little helps as they say.0
