Where can I sell valuable jewellery

Hi, can anyone advise me where I can sell a piece of valuable jewellery, it is not the gold I am looking for but rather the whole piece. Thanks

Gold jewellery is currently not fashionable so is unlikely to be more valuable as a piece that scrap gold value.
  • Good question andyD, I have a couple of items and they are basically all I have left of any worth to sell. I sent some old broken bits of gold to one of those companies that buy gold and made more than what I thought I would have. It paid a bill anyway. But I would be interested to know too if there is anywhere reputable in NI that buys gold jewellery with diamonds in it.

Thanks guys, I sold gold before Christmas and yes was shocked by how much I got, this is the last piece of valuable jewellery I have left, it is a ring so has only a little gold but quite a few diamonds, if that helps anyone with any more ideas on where I could take it. Thanks again.

  • Hi, I have tried this in Belfast as I have an engagement ring with 3 diamonds that I would like to sell, now that I am divorced and with someone else. All jewellers in Belfast advised me to sell privately on eBay /Gumtree or the like as no-one is interested in the diamonds for resale. I also checked with Cash Converters. Shame but that seems to be the way of it now.

How about selling it at auction? or going around some of the antique dealers who specialise in jewellery and seeing what you could get for it?

How about Ross's? They have a reasonable reputation and you would be able to set a reserve price. http://www.rosss.com/jewellery_online.asp

I tried to sell a very valuable ring at Ross's and got no bids whatsoever, but at least it was no sale no fee so cost me nothing but my time. McNeilly's of Lombard Street may try and sell it, but it'll be slow to sell. I'm nervous of selling something so valuable through Ebay or Gumtree, but that's a personal thing.
