Can't you check out e-bay, if you can go up to around a hundred squid you can get some real bargains - a lot of people seem to change their suites after only 2 or 3 years or when they change their colour scheme at home. Check out furniture local to you and pay cash when you collect it. It beats having anything on finance.0

not quite... but this might be of interest...
When I was declared bankrupt, I only had 3 creditors, one of which was Creation Finance - the finance company that DFS uses (or did, not sure if it still does). I had about 2 years to pay of a 4 year 'interest free' sofa - it wasn't expensive- probably had £250 to pay.
After being declared bankrupt, I changed my house insurance provider, and opted to pay monthly. The monthly payment scheme I later found out, was through Creation Finance! There was no problem - I didn't even get questioned about it.
So it seems although Creation Finance were one of my creditors in bankruptcy, they happily took on my debt post-bankruptcy (even before being discharged).
I would check to see whether DFS still use Creation, then give it a go. I don't know when you were declared bankrupt, but I think it's against the rules to apply for more than £500 loan in the first year?0 -
Not here to judge and please don't take this the wrong way but why would you want to purchase an item with an over inflated cost via finance? There are bargains out there which cost a fraction in total of what a DFS sofa will cost you. They might say 0% finance but the product is just overpriced in the first place.
M&S have their 'events' (sales to you and me!) to get rid of their past seasons stock. About 3 years ago I bought a sofa in the event/sale and paid around £300 for a £700 sofa so you can find bargains if you look.
Also, as above, plenty on ebay which sell for buttons when people are moving as they just want rid.0 -
Mot personally, but I've heard of people who are bankcrupt getting a new sofa.milliemoo7 wrote: »I was just wondering if anyone has got approved for a new sofa after bankcruptcy.

We got a 3 month old fabric Argos suite off ebay for £50 - it was like new and after paying someone to collect it for us it tottaled £70 for a nearly new suite - I would strongly advise doing this.0
