I purchased some solar lights last year and was very underimpressed as they needed direct sun all day just to last a few hours.
The answer was to replace the cheap rechargeable batteries inside with some good quality ones (highest mAh possible) from thiefbay. Ok so not as much of a bargain (cost just under a tenner for 8x 2700mAh), but at least they work much better now.
A full recharge in a battery charger also helps to kick them off.0 -

If you live in Norwich or thereabouts, Roys (of Wroxham) have something similiar for £19.99. Got some yesterday - made by Kingfisher. Raining today, so can't comment on them yet!! They also had the elusive tumble drier balls for £2.99!Heard the Shaggy Taxi Wind Up Phone Call?
