OK - Guys I am trying to do calm but not getting very far !
I currently have another post going about being made redundant, attempting to get out of my current tenancy agreement, so that I can take up another tenancy in another part of the UK to be employed by a sister company ! (and breathe) !
I am now in a right panic as the sister company has just called and would like a ball park start date ! - they want me to start as soon as possible, they are happy to wait for me but not forever !
Feel honoured that they want me so quickly but need to get out of this tenancy agreement first, then go into another tenancy agreement elsewhere, but what happens if after all that, I don't like the new people or management !!!! :eek: and I'm potentially still paying for 2 tenancy agreements !
I am typing faster than I can rant and panic about this .... need some help !
I'm going to have a run around the block to ease some of this stress off but will be back on line later.

How long is left to run in your current agreement? Have you tried contacting the LL and explaining why you need to leave? (sorry, I haven't read the other thread). Could you offer, as a compromise, to pay for remarketing costs in exchange for an early surrender? If you were my tenant and explained the situation about having to move for a job, I wouldn't be holding you to an agreement and potentially losing you the job, but maybe that's just me.0

Rather than sign up for a new tenancy near your new potential place of work coud you look into renting a room somewhere as a lodger?
If its a large employer you could even ask them if they know of any employees that would be interested in a short term lodger.
That way you are not commiting to anything long term and if it doesn't work out you can easily move. Even if it does work out it will give you chance to get to know the new area you are relocating to and decide whereabouts you would like to look for a rental place longer term.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

thank you guys for yet again, your wise and comforting words.
I have calmed down now and don't feel so fretful. Over the weekend I have been shell shocked and a little numb, had so many thoughts rushing through my head, didn't know whether I was coming or going !
Just need this weekend to clear my thoughts and relax a bit, hopefully I'll do some mapping and get a clear thought process on the go. Just hope my current landlord see's sense and allows me to relinquish my tenancy agreement, if he doesn't, then i could be in deep do do !
But we'll see how it goes !

Is there anyone you know, maybe from work who is looking for somewhere to rent?
If you could maybe line up a new tennant for the landlord so he/she loses no rent they may be more likely to release you from the agreement early.
Is there any chance that your company would pay some sort of relocation for you to take up the new position, maybe a cheap hotel/B&B/ travelodge for a week or two until you sort something out?
Its a long shot if there are redundancies but worth an ask.
Also ask the new place if they know anyone looking for a short term lodger.
Alternatively there are weekday only lets that run from sunday night to thursday night for people working away from home.

Loads of thanks for your websites which I shall pour over now and see what is available.
Don't want to get involved in recommending work colleagues for a rental line up incase it goes wrong ! there is no relocation package with this particular job unfortunately but a few brilliant peeps have given me some excellent letters to draft up and send to current landlord asking whether he will relinquish my tenancy agreement - here's hoping !
As I am relocating to a new area, I don't actually know anyone at the new office so would rather just keep my options open at the moment and look for somewhere like your websites suggest.

How long is left on your contract? Does it have any break clauses (go and get it and check)? Do you know anyone near the sister company who would take you in for a few weeks? Are you even sure you want to relocate? You seem very worried that you won't get on with your new colleagues. Would you be better looking for something else near where you currently live (obviously depends on what skills you have and therefore how easy it would be to find an approriate job)?
Many landlords will be happy to release you from your contract once they have found a new tenant, as that way they don't lose anything. An understanding landlord may even take the standard month's notice, especially if they can market it as vacant almost immediately.Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. I've already checked the tenancy agreement and there is no break clause at 6 months, its a straight off 12 month lease. As I am relocating approx 160 mile away to an area I don't know much about, I'm just a bit overwhelmed. As for finding work in the area I currently live, (very rural) finding work can be like finding a needle in a haystack ! I know from various friends that its extremely difficult finding a new job locally, so the fact that I have been offered something else, I'd be silly not to take it.
As for the landlord releasing me early, lets hope he has some sympathy and a heart0 -
