Late Tax Calculation Fairness

ABC, good advice, I'd not come across that before.
I'll return with a further update when I know the outcome of my appeal.
Just off topic slightly, I noticed that I received the last two pieces of correspondence from HMRC 8 and 9 nine days respectively after the date on them.
Particularly in the case of the penalty notice where you have a set number of days from the date of the notice to appeal, they really should post their letters out more quickly!0 -
Good news received today - my appeal has been accepted and penalties cancelled.
As I realised towards the end of my posts above, the problem was probably due to the computer system automatically generating interest and penalties as soon as the tax calculation was entered.
Fortunately, as soon as the appeal was reviewed by a sympathetic human, common sense prevailed.
Thank you very much for your help and advice.0
