Places to marry in and around Edinburgh

Hi,
I am a long term lurker on this forum and thought it was time to sign up.
My oh proposed last week and we are looking to get married next June either in or around Edinburgh (within a 15 mile radius)
We would be wanting somewhere that we can have the whole day and have a budget of about £5k for the venue.
Also have any of you managed to negotiate a price? You see them do it on don't tell the bride all the time - do venues really do this or is just for t.v?
Can anyone recommend places? There would up to 120 guests including kids.
Thanks

Hello Nately, I just booked the Edinburgh Capital Hotel for September this year. I only have 50 day guests and had a smaller budget but the places I wrote off for being too large/pricey were; the Corn Exchange, the Zoo, the Vaults and Howies Waterloo Place (beautiful room and tasty food!). The current edition of the Scottish wedding directory comes with a free booklet of all the venues in Scotland, giving you info on the size and price of each.
I went for a package deal and was too chicken to ask for a discount. I think you may have better luck asking for extras though, free table decorations, extra glass of wine etc.
Have you had a look at anywhere yet?0 -
We looked at The Vu in Bathgate but I feel it's a wee bit out the way for everyone - lovely looking place though. Got the wedding fair in a couple of weeks so hopefully a little bit more inspiration will come our way.0

Have you thought about Orocco Pier in South Queensferry? I was at a wedding there a couple of years ago, lovely place and the photos were amazing.0

Hiya,
You can view all licensed venues (excluding churches, obviously) on the local council websites.
You can download the Edinburgh city one here: http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/file/1062/approved_wedding_venues_in_edinburgh
Then you can go directly to each venue. If you've never been there, check out the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Leith. It's lovely!
Happy venue hunting!

The Vu is pretty but ive heard a few brides complain about the service.
The Kaim Park Hotel is nice and you can negotiate a discount.
The Bankton Hotel in Murieston is lovely and the food is great.
Orocco Pier is beautiful (imagine the gorgeous wedding pics!)0
