Open Uni will send you course materials before student finance is confirmed because they are aware that the process can take a fair amount of time and you could risk falling behind if they waited.

When you tick student finance there is a caveat that if student finance is not approved you will fund it via other means.

I have called the OU about my funding and they have told me I need to call student finance England.

I am confused as I registered with student finance and got my CRN number but when I try to apply online for finance it asks me if the course is with the OU and then advises me I need to contact the OU about finance to which they reply I can apply online a student finance??

Can anyone clear this up?

I can't help other than to say student finance can be useless. Give them a call and hope someone can help.

I was unable to do anything online when I applied to student finance last year as their system still had me listed with details from my 2nd year undergrad house from 12 years ago. Despite me since paying off my old student loans and having received yearly statements from them at a number of different houses since then they were insistent that it was somehow my fault.

Hi,

I have logged into my student finance page and opted for the part time student finance option as my course with the OU states it is part time, it let me actually fill out the form this time.

Before, I clicked on applying for full time finance so it is probably my fault and mistake.

It states I need to send in a copy of my birth certificate but my status on the finance page has now changed and seems to be ok, it took me around 30 mins to complete.

Do the SFC take ages to process?
