Comparing organic food prices

Hi,

is there a way of easily comparing organic food prices? I like to buy organic where I can but also need to stretch my money as far as I can!

Any ideas?

Katy43, if you use www.mysupermarket.co.uk it will show prices of organic fruit and veg (and other products) for ASDA, Ocado, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Waitrose ie supermarkets which do online delivery.

Aldi doesn't have an own-brand range of organic food in the UK (it does in Germany and USA). Lidl, Marks and Spencer and Morrisons do.

There may be a big difference between what you can find on supermarket websites and mysupermarket however, and what you will find in your local branches.

In Lidl you can get organic onions for 67p and organic Fairtrade bananas for $1(no working pound sign on OH's laptop sorry). Organic carrots can often be found for $1 and that may be a 750g, 1kg or even 1.2kg bag,

Cheapest generally are Lidl, ASDA and Morrisons. All the supermarkets do special offers on organic food and we list them on the Organic Food in Supermarkets thread. Up at the moment (may be a couple of pages back from latest page) are organic offers at ASDA, Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

You may find organic veg are cheaper in season at farmers markets (even London has them) www.localfoods.org.uk www.bigbarn.co.uk or by buying from farm shops if you are out in the country.
