Looking to buy some good hair clipper. Will mainly use it to go down to Grade 1 & 2.
Already have a trimmer so don't need to worry about that. Also not bothered if it's Mains or Rechargeable.
Is this any good? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4425818.htm
Says High carbon steel blades is that better or Ceramic?
What would you advise I get ? .... whats good?

We brought some clippers by Visiq and they have been absolutely brilliant. Got them from Argos too item no: 4425540 and had them about 3 years.

We've had a couple of sets of nasic Wahl clippers in the past and always been happy with them, but last time we needed to replace them, we got some Remington ceramic ones (about £28), and you can really tell the difference.
They're used on my husband (no.1/0 cuts) and eldest son (no.4 cuts) - they both have thick hair and these handle it with no trouble at all, however long it's been since the last trim.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

Thanks for the replies all..
I assume that the Remington ones were better. Do you have the model no? and can you remember were you got them from?
Any ideas which ones are better: carbon steel or ceramic cutters?0 -
The Remington ones we've got are these - they've gone up a couple of pounds since last season at this retailer - but if you look on Amazon, they are only about £23.
Yes, they are better than the Wahl (steel blades) were even when new - much smoother, and quicker - 6 year old doesn't moan anymore so they must be good
After having used these, we wouldn't go back to steel blades again.
Hope that helpsDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

Thanks found that one for £19.99 at Dixons / Currys
Do you know if they go blunt after time? Again reading from the description I assume they are both rechargeable and mains?
Do you know if this one deals with neck hair just for the finishing touch:) or is that a trimmer job?
Finally, how long does the charge take once empty?
Sorry for all questions, but as soon as I know the answer to these then you've persuaded me to go for this one... LOL0 -
No problem with the questions - that's a good price you found, by the way.
Ceramics shouldn't go blunt, but as this is the first set we've had, I couldn't confirm whether that is true or not (hopefully someone else reading this thread can).
They can be run on the mains, but it is recommended to charge them up and run them cordless (affects battery life otherwise, as with so many rechargeables).
They do fine for neck hair on my lot (including the yeti, sorry, hubby), however they do prefer a natural line, rather than a blunt cut, so that may be something to consider - there is a smaller trimmer (says styling pen) with the kit, which I assume is for that sort of detailing - not used it ourselves.
The initial charge, from memory, was around 12-16 hours, and hubby reckons it's now only about 4 hours from flat - can't find the handbook right now to double check the exact figures though - I'm sure Currys customer service could double check for you.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Thanks, just rang Currys and they've got some in stock at this price... off I go
thanks for helping me make my mind.
