Tax Allowance

What is the normal tax allowance for single people? Is it £5k or something for the tax year 2006-2007? Cant seem to find it on the IL revenue site.

Also, I earned £4700 pounds in the tax year 06-07, and paid approx £700 tax. Should I be able to claim this back>

for 2006-7 the personal allowance was 5035 so yes if you only earned 4700 you can reclaim the 700 tax..phone the tax office.
