On work programme, busfare?

Hi,

Today I was booked in for a work shop, when I arrived I was told it had been cancelled. I was told they would have the session next week instead and that I would get a letter about it.

I am very careful with my oystercard, only use it for buses and when I really need it. I felt a bit upset because I thought they could have called us in the morning to cancel, the session was at 2pm.

How do I claim help for the bus fare when I go there? I know I should have asked today but I was to ashamed.
Do I have to put money into my account on that day? and show a reciept?

    You give them the top up receipt and they pay you but only for the price of the fare there and back.

    Not sure if you can top up say £2.80 at a time as I always round up to the nearest £1 so say you need £2.80 to get there (and back) and you top up £3 they only give you back £2.80
