Reception venues Rochdale/ Oldham areas

We have set a date for 8th November 2014 and are now looking for a suitable reception venue. We don't need a ceremony venue as we will be marrying in our regular church.
As we will both have family coming from several areas of the country, we are thinking a hotel might be convenient for everyone as it will allow people to stay in the same place at discounted rates. We also thought we would probably have to provide a wedding breakfast for those coming from far afield and an evening buffet for more local (and numerous) friends.
Several of the local hotels have packages which are going to work out at about £3500 - £4000. We were hoping to spend less than this if possible.
Can anyone recommend any other venues in the Rochdale/ Oldham/ Bury area, please? We are struggling a little as my fiance lives in Wigan & I'm fairly new to the area too and don't attend many weddings.
Thank you in anticipation.

We went to a evening reception at the Birch a few months ago it was really lovely.
