Hi
Please can anyone advise, sorry if it seems a daft question but dont want to do anything wrong.
BR Feb 2012, was on ESA then JSA. I was AD Feb 2013 with no IPA.
Today I have received a tax notice from Tax office stating I had overpaid tax for period 2011/2012 and therefore a repayment would be sent to me for just under £300.
Does this money have to be paid to OR as was in time frame of my BR? I have received tax codes from tax office through the year to take into account ESA and JSA. I dont want to touch it until sure of situation.
I have just secured a job so at last will be able to sign off and get back to work, been a tough time but moving on now.
Thank you.

Sorry but looks like refund might be due to OR to me. You were bankrupt near the end of 2011/12 tax year so most of the refund might have been an asset at the date of your bankruptcy. The balance could be claimed as an after acquired asset.
I would ring the OR and ask, they may allow you to keep it, but a least you won't be in trouble.0 -
Thanks for your reply, will do that. The OR will probably take it as even when I got £10 back from insurance and let them know he wanted it. But at end of day at least BR year is done and its a fresh start. Thank you.0
