Hi, ive just found my cheese has mould on it. I forgot and had left it at the back of my fridge. Is is still safe to eat? Ive cut off the mould and was wondering if i grated and froze it would it still be ok to use, rather than eat it uncooked? Thankyou.

It will be fine - I've doneit lots and lots of times.
And I wouldn't bother with the freezing and cooking either.
Bear in mind people actually add (certain) moulds to certain cheeses to aid the flavour. And IF you saw cheese being aged...

Cut off the mould, done!
If your worried cook with it - cheese on toast is good.
You have heard of Stilton I presume ?0 -

Thankyou all, ive got so much cheese and i bought another lot reduced the other day. So i think i will just use this for cooking. I did the smell and taste test (on a small piece). Like you say ive eaten stilton. Although i know that has mould in it, i thought that was a different type of mould. i always think differently about non mouldy cheeses that go mouldy.0

I always use to just cut the mould off and eat it but, this question has been asked before and last time a few people came on to say the mould you get on your everyday cheddar is different from the 'mouldy cheeses', and even though you think you've cut the green bits away, there are still sort of strands going deep into the cheese.

Very current this as I have just thrown away half a small tub of philidelphia cheese which had a patch of grey mould on it (about the size of a penny). It smelt fine

Now I would NOT eat mouldy cream cheeses like this - only hard cheese I can scrape the mould off.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
