What is my domain potentially worth?

The domain is investing.cm

I've hastily put together a Wordpress blog and one article since yesterday but the main reason I bought it was because .cm is only a typo away from .com and Investing.com sold for LOADS of money last year.

Do you think I could build on this domain and maybe make some money, or am I wasting my time?

A domain is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

what i think your refering to is typo squatting although investing as a name would be impossible to trademark.

my suggestion, put a couple of forex cpa offers on there + analytics see what type in traffic you will get?

dont mention the .com and dont try to appear to be the .com

I was pretty sure I would be okay with regards to the name and trademark. If I'd bought something like Ford.cm then that would be a trademark issue.

I have no intention of trying to be like the .com version. For a start I don't have the money or the skills for that! :rotfl:

Trademarks are not the only concern, you can still have "passing off" issues even with an untrademarked name.


None "standard" TLDs typically arent worth anywhere near as much as their normal cousins. The typo/ passing off issue will certainly put off some people and I suspect drive the value down rather than up.

though the domain you have is fairly generic so it would be hard to passoff as the .com, it would be a very tenious link anway.

maybe right an article about global trading related to camaroon? if you are worried

I know it's a good one-worder, but with the .cm extension I just don't see the value in it. By all means mature it and try to flip but I wouldn't get your hopes up at all.

In terms of building it as a site, unless you have a ton of money to invest in content and links, I wouldn't bother wasting your time.

Not trying to be negative, just realistic.

I don't see how it could be worth much unless you put a lot of time and effort into it. While you could rank in the UK and the USA etc, it would take a lot of effort as the keywords predominantly would come up for Cameroon. having said that, I like to think that there is often a solution in mis-steps so think creatively. Maybe write some articles on the topic and have have it translated into French (think French is their main language however English may be spoken commonly too) and see how those keywords do in Cameroons search engines. I find with many of my passive sites, people who want to buy them contact me.

Oh btw you could just use Google translate to get it in French, I would not go to the trouble of hiring a French writer/translator
