Impact of 'Qs' on credit report

Hi

This may not be the right place for this but couldn't see where else to put it - have put it here as am looking to apply for a new credit card soon...

I recently got copies of my reports from all three agencies and there are queries (Qs) showing for the last few months on my mobile phone credit agreeement. The status is shown as 'query outstanding'. I have called the phone company today and they have sent an email to the credit team to see why this might be. I just wondered if anyone knew what impact this might have on my files? I want to wait until it is sorted before applying for a new card but have no idea how long this might take and would like to apply for a card before April...

Thanks
VC

    Query as in "account query"?...

...but you would have initiated this yourself.

Yeah, an account query. In April last year I queried late payment markers from 2009 that were on my file - I had the bills to prove these were paid on time and so disputed these with the phone company. They checked it all out, agreed that the payments were made on time and updated my records to this effect. I'm not sure why there are queries showing for the last few months as I have not disputed anything since.

As I say, this is being looked into but in the meantime I am wondering what the effect of these Qs would be should I apply for new credit.

A Q status will have no effect either way. It is a neutral. BT and Orange have replaced Q markers on both my credit file and my partners credit file after we pointed out late payment markers are wrong, and it has had no detrimental effect whatsoever.

Thanks izools, that's good to know.
Now they just need to explain why there are Qs showing for the last few months!

Because you disputed the late markers.

    Perfectly normal :o
