Mid week cup games hardly ever sell out. You can get a ticket to pretty much any game except the big games, city, chelsea, liverpool, arsenal ect...

FYI - Old Trafford capacity = 75,811 the average attendance according to ESPN is 75,516 this year so no... not quite sold out!

Not wholly accurate as the attendance will be people through turnstiles, except for Season Ticket holders who are automatically included. Therefore anyone who buys a ticket but does not attend, for whatever reason, will not be included in the attendance figure; although a ticket will have been sold.

For cup games it is slightly different as the rules of the competeion will dictate how season ticket holders are to be treated. In the FA Cup, for instance, if an FA cup match is included as part of the package then the FA must be informed of this and the apportioned cost must be added to the gate receipts for the calculation of the amount due to each club. Therefore many clubs do not include cup matches in the cost of Season Tickets. What usually happens is that the holders of season tickets are then offered first refusal on their normal seat if the club is drawn at home. Not all Season Ticket holders will take up this opportunity and these tickets will then be sold to others, usually in accordance with the club's ticket charter. That is why cup games, especially in the earlier rounds and/or against less attractive opposition (is Reading in that category?) often have significantly lower attendances than in their comparable league matches.
