Hello everyone.
I've signed up on the site as I've just bought a new house and am looking for some moneysaving tips to decorate and do it up on the cheap - for me to live in.
I'm fascinated by all the tips from the main forum but some of the shops or products are online - I'd like to try NI shops too.
I don't have a lot of spare cash but want to tile downstairs, paint the whole house ( it needs it as its very scruffy), wood floor for one 12x12ft bedroom and some carpet. There is a lounge/ dining room and for some reason there is a strip of carpet missing between them- I can't afford new carpet - is there a strip of rubber thing I could get?
That would do in meantime!
The kitchen is next - it's tiny. 8x7ft approx. would like a granite- like countertop and some carpentry done to move a cupboard.
What jobs do I do first?
Any help would be gratefully received. Any good reclaim or antique shops in East Belfast - for furniture?

What about a mat/runner type thing to cover the gap in the carpet? Wee cheap ones in the likes of Poundstretcher, B&M etc. Try Gumtree/Ebay for counter tops etc and word of mouth is always good if you are looking for joiners etc to do the work. Are there any community organisations that offer services like painting and decorating? Try them.0
