Aren't two sepereate issues being confused here? Performance would be a case of 'Capability'; whereas disciplinary procedures are more a case of 'won't do', rather than 'can't do', or if there is an issue surrounding conduct at work.

I spoke to my union rep today and it all pretty messy as far as he is concerned.
From the documentation I am accepting other people's work, outwith my job description, which is very obviously a management role but i am not a manager but I thought i was helping them out whilst the restructuring was taking place. Consequently because I did this previously, they assumed I was aware these jobs were now my responsibility - I worked excessive unpaid hours to help the organisation which was not sustainable.
I reverted back to my own job as all the additional work was having an impact on what I should have been doing. The problem is that management assumed I would continue to perform these tasks indefinitely when I was originally only asked to help out during the restructuring.
I see the whole problem arose due to a lack of communication and in reality I maybe partly to blame for that but it appears I am now being disciplined for work that managers failed to complete.
I will just have to see what the process brings.0
