    Yes it is, Yet again J. Arthur Bowers got best container compost for the peat based multipurpose & best Peat free container compost for New Horizon.

    It sounds more like you had a one off dodgy bag of seed compost to me, I'd have complained to the shop or the manufacturer.

    Well I think based on what's said here I'll be sticking to multi-purpose. Though I've never thought of sieving it before so I'll do that. I just wondered if seed compost was worth the money, clearly not.

    I was watching a Carol Klein programme the other day and she topped all her seed trays with a layer of grit, something I'll try for the first time this year.
  • I have always used MPC before. End of last year I was in ASDA and they had all there bags of compost half price so bought a bad of seed compost. Very fine and so far the seeds seem to be growing well and quickly but it will need to be potted on faster otherwise it will run out of nutrients.

    Yes i was going to, Got the draft letter on here still. But family issues happened. So nothing got done. Most of the plants went on the compost.

    Errr oh dear.. I do hope i threw the non growing ones away and not into the compost bin ???
