Grooms Suit

Options
Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me as I'm not even sure where to start looking! My darling husband to be has decided he wants something a little different to wear on our big day instead of the usual black/grey/whatever affair with a coloured tie and hanky (his words). We've tried all of the big shops but haven't seen anything he likes and he's starting to drive me a bit mad with his sulking :o

The sort of thing he's looking for is a suit jacket with either tasteful sparkles or some sort of pattern. The closest thing I've managed to find that he doesn't hate is from a German site called Wilvorst (sorry can't post links) but can't find a supplier in the UK that does the patterned ones.

Willing to travel anywhere in the UK and have a healthy budget if anyone can recommend a potential suit shop. Thank you so much for reading.

  • Sorry, I don't know of any suit shops selling what you describe, but I did read this this article on grooms suits earlier today, which might be of interest.
I like the guy with the traditional suit but bright red accessories, it looks personal to him then.

Oooh thanks for the link, having a look at a couple of those sites now. I think that's all he wants, just to stand out a bit and be himself.
  • My groom didn't wan't a typical wedding suit either so we've ordered his and best man's suits from a site called Suitopia. They do made to measure suits in so many fabrics and colours. I think they worked out around £300 each with waistcoat. They're due to arrive in a week or two so I'll let you know what they're like when I've seen them :-)

My Avatar might be of interest, my son in law wore like a muted gold jacket, with a ruche and hankie the same colour as my daughters dress, he looked the business. The other men in the party wore ordinary suits but goldis waistcoats and ruches.

They were hired from The York Hire Shop.

Wow Angel that Suitopia site is fantastic! I think those Exclusive designs should definitely be wild enough to interest him. Would love to know how yours turn out when you get them please :)

We're not too far from York McKneff so will have a look next time we're there. The dress in your avatar is so beautiful, I think it's a lovely idea to have some of the colour in his suit but also match the other men.

Thank you for the help guys, you've given me hope :j

The prices werent too bad either.

The dress was just absolutely stunning, it was heavily beaded across the bust, with folds and the beads faded all the way down the dress right down the train. OOh, its only very recent so I still get a buzz from looking at pics of my only daughter's wedding. She was married at Bedern Hall, York but the pics were taken in Minster gardens. Fabulous day too for the end of October.

Hopefully the above is a pic of the coat he was wearing, it had a brocade pattern on it.

She looks so beautiful, it's a fantastic picture. My wedding is this October so I hope the weather is as nice as it looks there :) Brocade seems to be the magic word to search with, we've found a couple of possibles now. Really like the gold/ivory colour.
  • Hey Poetry, hope the wedding plans are going well! The suits arrived from Suitopia last week and fit really well. OH is really pleased! He says he's going to buy all his suits from there now lol. The only negative was that they took 7 weeks to arrive, when the website says 2-3. It would have been better if they hadn't been so optimistic with their timescale lol! Hope that helps x

Are there any designer outlet village type places near you?A friend of mine's hubby to be got a nice mid-blue Armarni suit from Bicester village, think it was around £100. I think designer outlet places would definitely offer more one-off designs than the high street.
    :)
